AT SPA FLOETRY



The Continuing Education Center at Spa Floetry is an event center that is available for meetings, training classes, or events which require a large space.  Maximum capacity 50 people.

We specialize in Continuing Education credits for massage therapists, physical therapists, chiropractors and health care professionals.  We also offer classes to non-professionals as well.  All of our classes are NCBTMB and NSBMT approved.

First time on our schedule for our pet lovers, we will be hosting a two-hour Pet First Aid and CPR Class taught by Betsy Alvarez, www.itsapetsworld.net.

We welcome back, Catherine Laws of The Healing Touch, www.thtmassage.com. 
Catherine’s style of teaching is 2/3 Hands-On training and the balance made up of Video and discussion periods.  This is referred to as Proper Technique Training.  When you leave her class you will have a practical experience to take with you enabling you to actually perform proper techniques of what you have learned on your very first client.  Isn’t that what you really want?

Returning in 2010 is Dr. Ross Tourtchaninov of Aesculapius Books, www.aesculapbooks.com in Phoenix, Arizona who partnered with us for Segment Reflex Massage.   If you want to include medical massage therapy in your practice; if you want to reach a completely new professional level, and if you want to be ready to deliver highly effective treatment to your clients this is for you. 
Next class is February 7- 8, 2010.
He will be offering Segment Reflex on day one and Medical Massage Protocol for Performis Muscle Syndrome -  Sciatica on day 2.

e're excited to have Heath Reed and Nicole Errico Reed, www.nationalbodyworkseminars.com.  They will be presenting  Thai Yoga Massage in July .  They recently held a free demonstration for 1 CE for Massage Therapists at a Las Vegas Massage Meetup Group, who we are a sponsor.

Introducing Krisda Suwannapha, B.A., LMT, Board Certified -  Krisda is a native of  Thailand who has been studying Thai Massage Therapy since 1960.  His first instructor was abbot Sangworn, Sututwanaram  who preached and taught in a Budhist Temple and specialised in Thai Traditonal medicine.  The Abbott had opened the care and treatement clinic and healed the clients who suffered from generalized illness relevant to neuro muscular skeletal complaints.  He will be teaching Intro to Thai Massage, Thai Massage on the Table, Seated Thai Massage and Thai Foot Massage.   


Our Room includes the use of our Mini kitchen which includes the use of a full size refrigerator, microwave and sink.  Also included with the use of this space is our fireside lounge.

Thai massage is a Thai healing art that it is a four part series to traditional Thai medicine.  It is a form of therapy based on the theory of the flow of energy between specific points on the periphery of the body and internal organs.

 

Thai massage improves circulation, flexibility and muscle tone.  It can take the vital sole in repairing damaged tissue by a blend of acupressure and stretching.  It is especially beneficial for those who find themselves stiff, sore, or tired from over exertion in work or sport or other disorders affecting mobility.  As a holistic approach to healing, the most important function of Thai massage is to stimulate the body’s natural healing process.Participant will be trained how to use meditation to focus on the body through mind and spirit.

3/14 & 3/15/10 - PRENATAL MASSAGE AND ACCUPRESSURE - 12 - CE's

Day One – Pre-Natal Massage - Students are made aware of the anatomical, physiological and biochemical changes that occur in the woman during the nine months period of gestation as it relates to Massage Therapy.  Students learn the benefits of prenatal massage, proper draping, proper scents, side posture, use of pillows and supplies, positioning, property set up of table, back pain massage and stretching exercises.

Day Two - Acupressure Massage – Students will learn the benefits of acupressure, what is Qi, what is a meridian, what is acupuncture and what is traditional Chinese medicine.  Student will also learn the contraindications and indications and anatomical locations.**Wear comfortable clothing bring massage oil (lotion), massage table, sheets, pillow, note book and water

Thai massage (nuad Thai) is part of Traditional Thai medicine and a form of manual therapy that involves very efficient methods of hands-on compression, stretching and rhythmic movements with the client clothed on a massage table.  Thai massage is a ancient art that is an incredible therapy for the giver and the receiver.   This course will demonstrae how to properly perform thai massage on the table.  Participant will be trained how to use meditation to focus on the body through mind and spirit.

March 28 & 29, 2010 - 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. -

AIS - ACTIVE ISOLATED STRETCHING:  THE SPA METHOD - 16 CE's

Active Isolated Stretching:  The Spa Method was developed from Aaron Mattes' clinical approach to stretching and reformatted by Bruce Baltz.  This format can be adapted into the spa setting and bring more depth to any menu or enhance the deep tissue or sports related treatments.  This two day workshop will be broken down into three segments covering upper body and neck, lower body, and hands and feet.  You will learn how to reach the deepest tissues of the body with the less discomfort to your client while minimizing the stress on your body.  An added feature to this program will be handouts you can provide your clients which will help them maintain and promote further balance into their lives.

Seated Thai Massage can be used as routine work and also can be used as an alternative for the clients who are not able to lie on the ground.  It can be done in office chair, massage chair or even on the floor.

 

It will cover the head, neck, shoulder, back, arms and hands.  This course will present the Thai energy lines and points of a specific area.  The course will also present the proper way to perform with a variety of positions for the giver and receiver.  Participant will be trained how to use meditation to focus on the body through mind and spirit.

THAI FOOT MASSAGE - 8 CEU's

Thai foot massage is a manual massage of the feet and lower legs.  The grown belief system of energy lines and specific points on the feet reflex back to the body’s organs and muscles through energy lines.  Thai foot massage uses a folk instrument such as a massage stick combined with the palm and thumb slide pressing or forearm rolling on foot and leg energy lines with lubricant used or, cream of lotion.  This course will present Thai massage history, principles and procedures including Thai energy lines and points of the foot and leg.  The participant will learn how to perform Thai foot massage properly on the table or chair.
